I said Obama should pick Hillary.

Her speech killed that idea.

Defining Swing States

Posted by michaelmee on May 22, 2008

The media… Oh the media…

CNN recently posted an article claiming Clinton did better in swing states.

Their evidence? Polls from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida.

Obama will win Pennsylvania. He is “losing” by 4% in Ohio and Florida. Very close to, if not within, the margin of error. Yet this makes CNN news as a headline.

Why does the media continue to perpetuate this myth? Are they simply uninformed? When people are obviously rooting for Obama on MSNBC, why don’t they point out the obvious? Why do they allude and reinforce the perception that Clinton is a stronger candidate?

I don’t have an answer.

Obama Up Six in Indiana On Last Day of Zogby Poll

Posted by michaelmee on May 6, 2008

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1499 released their final poll this morning. And, at least in Zogby, we are seeing the reverse-Obama effect in Indiana and North Carolina. While I predicted that in North Carolina, I didn’t think it would happen in Indiana.

The overall Obama advantage in Indiana—though statistically insignificant—comes after another strong day of polling Monday. The one-day total, which comprises about half of the two-day tracking poll sample, saw Obama winning 47% support to Clinton’s 41%. Monday’s polling results are combined with Sunday’s numbers to produce the two-day tracking poll.

On the Eve of Indiana: Obama, Clinton, and a State of Confusion

Posted by michaelmee on May 5, 2008

In a recent post, I predicted that Hillary Clinton would defeat Barack Obama by 6% in Indiana’s democratic primary. If you have been following this race, you know that Indiana is a big deal. Most people would agree that Obama has a better shot here than he ever had in Pennsylvania, and if he takes Indiana and North Carolina, it should end the Clinton campaign… Or at least, it’s viability.

The recent polls have peaked my interest, though, so I’m here to go a bit more in depth about what the numbers are showing. There is a misconception that Obama, at some point, had Indiana in his pocket. But as I’ve hinted at before, that was simply wishful thinking on the part of the media. Obama lead in five of six polls from April 10th to April 24th. Only two of those leads were beyond the margin of error, compared to one lead during that time period for Clinton beyond the margin of error. These polls can be found at http://www.realclearpolitics.com.
